Data Access Credentials

Any Synoptic customer is able to create credentials you can use against our data services to integrate them into your own applications and processes.

Credentials come in two forms - keys and tokens, and are case-sensitive strings of letters and numbers we use to identify you when you interact with Synoptic.

You can have and manage credentials even if your account does not have access to data services.

Keys

Keys are a secret credential you do not use for accessing data. You use them to manage your tokens and other account settings as available.

You are required to have a key defined in order to create tokens. You can do this all within the customer console.

Tokens

Tokens are the most common credential for use - a string used to identify your account when making a data request. We also call them “public tokens” because these strings are exposed to users of applications you may make - such as in web or mobile apps.
